Am wanting to purchase a tablet with the following primary purpose:
- use in car for kids to watch movies / play kids apps on long car trips
- connect to WIFI to use for various apps for my wife in house (no need for LTE etc)
- reasonable performance - not too slow
- possibly stream music (spotify or similar) and play via bluetooth to speaker? (or other ideas)

Any suggestions/recommendations. Don't want to break the bank, but also don't want somethign that will just frustrate me!

Thanks all and happy Friday!

I use a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2. Have been for 4 years now. Good for all that and more. Excellent battery life.

Another question you need to answer is what size you are looking at. Most modern tablets come in 10" or 7" form factors. Do you have a specific preference?

Not sure if you're an fnb customer but ebucks shop has decent Lenovo tablets

Thanks - I am on ebucks (Level 5) but the prices didn't seem to be the most appealing, though I haven't compared extensively. Are they good deals?

Not too worried about size - as long as it keeps kids happy, and we can do a few things - probably worth looking at 10 though?

I have a 10" tab A which I use daily, but that is a bit overkill for kids. Have a look here maybe for the Lenovos:

Speedster, do you believe those cheaper Lenovo's are ok? In particular screen etc? Reading reviews online is never a good thing, as everything is very critical...so thought I'd ask, assuming you have a similar, even if larger, one?
They aren't great and will never ever receive an update.

I don't have experience with the Lenovos but have used a variety of cheapish tablets over the years. For your use case I would think they are more than sufficient. The alternative would be to shell out three or four times the price on a more popular tablet.

The thing with second hand devices is that their batteries will have degraded over time. A 2 year old battery will have significantly less capacity than a new one.

iPad, you can't go wrong.

Failing that if the kids are young the Amazon Kids Edition units are an option, but they are low on storage and typical Android issues.
