Hi when i game my gpu temps are rising to 100 °C and above. Idle speeds are 44 °C
Having stock speeds of AMD His 4850 gpu.
There's no feature or control on my AMD Catalyst control center concerning fan control.(Ccc 12.6)
Googled something about manually editing it in profile of AMD folder and still the fan is not working like intented, Temps keep on rising.
Downloaded and installed MSI afterburner i see there is a fan control feature but its disabled and showing nothing,(0) aswell as on my gadget Gpu meter and before gpu_z.(0)
Been sitting with this whole day.
Need some advice on what to do, to solve it.
Thanx.

Also make sure that your fan & heatsink is cleaned properly.
Seeing that it is a rather old graphics card, it could be that you may have to replace the thermal paste between the GPU and heatsink, but before you do that first ensure that the heatsink & fan is cleaned and that you have a decent airflow through your case too.

Ok thanx yes I have done a "service" to my pc few weeks ago.
Cleaned my entire pc.
I'll try the solutions thanx guys

Quick question, is it possible to receive false readings?
Well when I do feel the heatsink its quite cool.

Yes, it is very much possible!

The temperature reading is on/inside the GPU, where as what you're feeling is the heat that is transferred from the GPU to the thermal paste to the heatsink's contact pad and then to the fins on the heatsink.

If the thermal paste is old OR the heatsink is loose - like in your case - it may not make good contact any more, and then the GPU temperature would be high, but the heatsink's temperature would remain low.

This is why I mentioned earlier that you may have to replace the thermal paste between the GPU and the heatsink.

Ok thanx , just need to now purchase new thernal paste.
Borrowed the last bit of thermal paste when I cleaned all the dust out.
thanx again.

Thanx a lot for the advice.
My gpu's tempreture idle are now @ 33 degrees.(10 degrees lower after applying thermal paste and properly cleaning pc)
Gaming I see its @ high 50's(just under 60) with fan speed @78%.
Using that software of saphire for AMD to change my fan speeds.
Thanx again for the advice.
