Howzit guys,

I currently own a wii but I'm really contemplating selling it as i hardly use it for what its intended.
I'm thinking of selling it and getting one the elite bundles (GTA or Forza or Halo).

Which console would be better. Getting an Elite bundle or saving up a bit more and getting a PS3 slim bundle.
I'm very undecided.

Whats the price difference between the Elite & the PS3? Its a good time to sell your Wii seeing as the prices are starting to drop in the retail area, what console to replace it with is completely up to you though. I'd weigh up which exclusives are more appealing to you.
 
Well the elite bundles average from R3300 - R3600.
ps3 slim averages from R4200 - R4600

Im leaning more towards the xbox but considering i do have a 32" Full HD the ps3 blu-ray is very tempting.

Exlcusives... um not too fazed... im not a huge FPS fan on consoles, i'd rather play that on PC but racing games/sport/RPG's i enjoy..
 
ps3 slims can be found cheaper! R3999 for 250gb slim from zaps, IMO go for the slim 120gb or 250gb

Cause a bundle goes for R300 more and you can get a game atleast.

I was in the same situation as you and finally decided to get the PS3 Slim. I bought the 120gb model and I'm buying my games pre-played. (got Motorstorm for R170 at Cash Converters in perfect condition!) Trust me you won't regret it. Blu-ray movies are stunning! (and I've only got a 720p LCD!)

It's the right thing to do...

it's just the slim afraid no games but i still think its cheap. i think musica and incredible have the 250gb bundles but i'm not sure of the price, last i check (a month ago) it was around R4500 to R4700 with uncharterd 2 i think.

yip i was very impressed with the range and condition of pre-played games at zaps and cash convertors...i only realized they sold pre-played after i bought the new ones :eek: so from now on i will look into the pre-played range first before i buy new.

I was also wondering and ended up buying the ps3.

No regrets. The main for me is they do not charge 50 dollars a year for their online services like microsoft do.
 
I have an xbox but with current pricing if I could choose would definitely get a PS3 - especially if you dont have blu ray - blu ray movies are awesome - pity the video shops selections are rubbish but that is improving

Better online multiplayer (but it costs money - not much though)


Those are the most important things that would change my mind. The Bluray selection is becoming better every day. If movies are your thing... just get a PS3. But if you like movies and games equally, the choice will be hard.

Also, if you don't play online too much... also get a PS3, because even if Xbox LIVE is better, you atleast dont pay for PSN if you dont use it much.

All in all both consoles are good. My personal preference is an Xbox, because of its great online multiplayer. Also... for me the achievement system is not as 'plastic' as the trophy system.

What makes the XBox cool is that you kind of fall in love with it, whereas the PS3 is an amazing machine... but is still that... a machine. But this is just my opinion.

I HONESTLY think that Gears of War is more epic than Killzone. Killzone is a GREAT game!!! But it is not... E.P.I.C. I don't know how to explain this.

I honestly think the PS3 is a better media center than the Xbox.

if you need to save every cent go for the Xbox but if the extra 1K doesnt hurt i dont see how you cant go for PS3. got my 250 gb bundle and have been extremely impressed!

havent used Media Server or any special apps but out the box its awesome!
HD Gaming is sick.....even on my Sinotec. Ps3 will kill this Xmas im sure....afterall it is Sony

The difference is marginal, unnoticeable in most cases when you are playing the games.

There is some exclusives lost, but just remember that Sony is creating new IP's all the time...Warhawk/Mag, Resistance, Uncharted, Heavenly Sword, Heavenly Rain, Infamous, Motorstorm and still retaining some of the best existing IP's...God of War, Gran Turismo, Metal Gear Solid...

LOL, that's horse calling the PS3 just a machine....I'm in love with my PS3 as much as every other PS3 gamer...It does everything, even is helping to find the cure for cancer, how can you not love that ? It does everything (watch the ads)

Think that's fair....but making a recommendation to a gamer, the PS3 is not just great value, but Sony is showing real love to it's gamers, free online, great IP's, new exclusive IP's, and lots of new functionality...I don't doubt myself for a second for making this recommendation...what's their tagline..."Gaming is only the start...." believe it !

Why get a PS3 if your friends have Xboxes though? Don't you wanna play with them?

Sorry for not adding all the games in my opinion, but I just added games that would tilt the favor for me. I hope you can decide man!

But it sounds like you want a PS3. I say go for it. It is a powerhouse with mega features. The Xbox is weaker and the focus is more on games. The PS3 is a better all round entertainment console <--- my opinion.
 
Didn't make mention of RROD though ...lol, but i trust you guys saying it's not a problem anymore...

X-Box has some things going for it, but more focus'd on games ? disagree, not only did some of the most exciting console exclusives come from Sony, but Sony has more consoles in the world than anyone else...and a larger library of games and exclusives...the PS3 library is a little more varied than the 360's with exclusives like R&C series and LBP for platformers, Killzone 2 and Resistance series for FPS, Infamous and Uncharted Series for 3rd person shooters, Motorstorm and GT series for driving and Heavenly Sword and God of War series for Hack 'n Slash, Buzz & Singstar as family games and some great PSN stuff (Fat Princess, Super Stardust)...With a great expected line up for 2010, you can't say it has any less focus on games than MS...
