Hi all

The only available connectivity to the net that I hve is via 3g + ISDN dialup. Until recent Screamer WIMAX have arrived to the delight of everyone. I hve been reading the threads on THE SCREAMER - should i risk it and give them a try for fast net or stick with current. 3g is very costly tho. Also, if THE SCREAMER comes in favour, can add on packages from AXXESS dsl be used with THE SCREAMER.

Would appreciate the input.

Thx

"Lotus, to be fair the Wimax technology and Screamer (ISP) do work ( /hides at the stones been thrown) if all you want to do is e-mail and browsing. However most of us complaining here need a little bit more than just a "connection". Us gamers are the worst in a sense that we want near perfection in bandwidth availability and response times. If we don't get it, online gaming is waste of time :(.

So if you want use Wimax as your "redundancy" as per my first example then yeah great go for it. Honestly i can count the number of times my browsing hasnt worked on one hand. If however you require a bit more from the connection then in my opinion at this present time, the Wimax ISP's need to sort out their BS and spend some money to fix the issues they have before it will truly be a viable option. Of course this is all just my two cents worth. (FYI i have been a wimax customer for over a year now and tbh i can count the number of days on one hand that i have been truly satisfied with the product (via a gamers perspective of course)). " - Taken from a different thread (Not sure why the quote didnt come out right :( )

Just to add to my above "quote", Screamer has carried out an upgrade last night. Soo tonight i'm sure most of us expressing concerns here will be trying out various applications and see if we have any improvements.

EDIT: By Axxess dsl, i presume you mean use an axxess DSL account ? If soo you can;t use a DSL account with Screamer, well at least not to my knowledge.

Yeah I think Ciruis summed it up well, although to be honest I havent experienced a lot of the horror stories that others on this board have gone through. My screamer has worked well with the occasional hiccup. A lot does depend on your area and signal strength though. The other thing is that any1 who is having perfect service is likely not to comment on these forums, so you do get something of a skewed view regarding the service.
