Hello,

I really need some urgent advice because I don't know what to do any more... :(

Long story short, I was without a vehicle for more than three weeks because the garage couldn't find all the parts to replace my clutch. Some of the parts are new and other had to be refurbished which isn't ideal, I know, but I had no choice.

It's now less than a week later and the clutch started slipping again. I'm not in a financial position to have another garage do it all over again.

Also, they apparently found an electrical problem when my car was with them which turned out to be nothing. But in the process they removed my petrol pump and didn't put it back correctly. This caused huge problems over the weekend which cost me another few thousand.

I'm taking the vehicle back tomorrow morning to find out what they're going to do to help me. But I get the feeling that I might need to take legal action against them, although I won't be able to afford it.

What are my options? ...please, I'm desperate and next weekend I have to do about a 1200km with the vehicle.

Thanks in advance.

You need to provide more info.

Hi,

I drive a 2004 Rover 75 1.8T.

The workshop is called "B Osmers - Auto Clinic", below is a link to the website where I found their contact details.

Previously I had the vehicle serviced at MotoLube in Fourways. But I vowed never to go back to them again after they forgot to put back the air filter.

Most of the parts were refurbished after they failed to get hold of new parts. After three weeks I imported a clutch slave cylinder myself because they wanted to charge me another R8k just for that little plastic pipe. I'm actually regret not importing more of the parts.

I admit that it's my fault for trusting them with everything. But surely they must take some responsibility for their poor work.

Hi,

Just an update, I went to the workshop ready to start a war. But that wasn't necessary, they were actually very helpful and they just bled the clutch again. They also asked that I come back next week so that they can check that everything is fine.

Dude...I drive a MG ZR 120, my car was "looked after" by EmGee Workshop in Randburg. Whatever you do...DO NOT GO TO THEM!! They are a rip off, and a bunch of hobbyists who claim they know MG's. They also use inferior Chinese knock off parts and have tried charging me for work they did not do. STAY AWAY!

And we diverged

Oh I know them all too well, took my vehicle there once and NEVER again!!

If I may ask, who services your vehicle?

Thanks

Diverged? What...off topic? His car and my car were built by the same company (Rover/MG)...the parts are interchangeable. The Rover 75 and MG ZR are almost identical in parts...Next time, do a bit of research before throwing in your 2c, or lack thereof.

I know...wish I saw it sooner! I moved to Somerset West in Sep last year...it now goes to British Auto Group in Obs. They are pricey...but Im scared to try anyone else again besides a dealership :( British Auto Group are opening office in Jhb soon...lemme see if I can find info on this quick...

Have heard the only "dealership" you can take Rovers and MG's to now is Proton in Edenvale. MG is making a comeback....British Auto Group have a new MG showroom for the new models coming in...so Im sure many dealerships will start opening up all over SA. Im sure there must be one open in Jhb /soon to be opened...but where to find out...I dunno?

Give them a call, they should hopefully be able to point you in the right direction for contacts in Jhb, and info on their Jhb office to open up:
