Hey guys, my contract expires in May and im seriously thinking of gettin a BB. I've only used Nokia and Samsung. I have no experience with a BB, but whoevers got them claim they the best thing after toast.

So i need advice on whats a good model to go for and which network is best for BIS. Also throw any advantages and disadvantages at me, the more the merrier.

Thanks guys!

Why pay an extra subscription each month for something you get out the box on a lot of fones these days. Why do you want a BB? For email? Why not get a Nokia or iPhone or something that has a mail client? I used to have a DingleBerry but I was less than impressed with it. And you do not want to have to deal with Voda or MTN BB support!! I would rather deal with Telkom's call centers. REALLY that bad.

Perhaps you can tell me which other phone comes with unlimited internet access for R59pm?

When you say used to I wonder how long ago that was because I've been using Blackberrys for at least 6 years now and the evolution has been substantial.

The last time I had to deal with Vodacom's BB support was . . . well, I can't even recall when so it couldnt have been recently.

@rezabz My missus has the curve 8520 and I the Bold 9000. The new bold 9700 looks very nice though - it's much smaller than the 9000 and has a trackpad instead of the ball which, for me, gets clogged after a while.

If i take the phone on a cotract is it possible to take the BIS on my prepaid sim as i use my prepaid sim 90% of the time. I basically use the contract sim just for the free mins.

I'm sure it's possible but why not just use it with the contract SIM?

And sooo u suggesting? And whats the charges like on a weekender and mtn's equivalent?

Which for me is a good reason not to add BIS to a prepaid sim.

Does BIS stop working when you run out of airtime.
Can't remember that from the article. Will have to reread it.

To avoid nairsty surprises at the end of the month. Lol. But i might just use the contract sim on a permanent basis.

I misread. Ignore my earlier post. :)

If you can get a 9700, it's top of the BlackBerry pack at the moment; really brilliant phone. The 8520 is a nice phone for the price. I'm not sure any of the others is worth bothering about.

Thanx guys. . . Keep them coming. Which SP do u guys suggest is best for BIS, if theres any difference?

If I get the 8520 on a topup contract can I use some of the monthly topup monies for BIS subs or do I have to pay subs on top of my topup monthly subs. Anyone know?
