What veggies can I plant during this time of the year?

Um, not sure what he should plant as it's mostly harvest season... mmmm.... I'd say January/February ... potatoes?

I haven't grown anything myself in at least 16 years

Most veggies grow now in summer. If you're a beginner gardener go for tomatoes, parsley, basil, beans, peas, brinjals, pumpkin and spinach. The biggest problem would be snails so if you can control those the rest is easy. Water every day and they should be ready to harvest in 3 months time (or sooner). If you're looking for quick turnover (especially if you have small kids planting) then spiach and radishes are the way to go.

Salad, Frilly leaves they last well into winer, Tomato- natural insect repelant. Remember to plant what you eat and know how to cook. I had spinach but didn't know how to cook it.

Spring onions, basil, rocket, chillies, green pepers, corriander, cabbage.
Egg plant. o i'm a little farmer over weekends) But you can plant lots of herbs.

Marrows is full off sh@t.... all the stinging bugs like them they also get fungus all over.
