Hi guys,
I have R2900 to spend on PC upgrade/s but a bit undecided.

I could get a HD 5850 @R2 900 or
1.5TB HDD @R1 100 & Samsung 2333SW @R1 800.

Now if I got the HD 5850 I would be playing on a square 19" LCD @1280X1024X60....

But if I got the 2333SW I would be using a HD 3850 which might not perform to well at 1920X1080...

I will be uncapped next month so looking at d/l about 500GB for which I will need the HD space!

Which so I go for?

I would say get the screen and drive for now, then save up a bit and wait for nvidia's reply to the ati cards to see how they fair.

well the rly important question to ask here is: are you a gamer??

cos if not there's no need for a 5850.

your 3850 will have no chance with games at tha big resolution, but if ur not a gamer u should be alrite :D

its difficult to say what to upgrade without telling us what u want to use the pc 4?

He's considering a 5850 ... I think he's a gamer.

+1 get the screen and the hard drive now, gfx later!

I am A big time gamer but mainly on my Xbox 360 and PS3.... I "get" games for PC that only have Single Player as I dont wanna fork out money for a game with 8 hours of play time! So I game a bit pn PC but my 3850 is keeping me going now but I dont know how long it will keep up.

Sounds like screen and HDD are the way to go.

If you're not a gamer then there's no question... Get the HDD + Screen.. The Scren is MILES better than you have now, and if you don't really game, you won't even notice the difference between a 3850 and 5850.

A last confirmation:
The 5850's price will probably fall by about 40% more than the HDD+Screen over the next 6 months, so rahter get the "more affordable"..

Even though I said I am a gamer....

I hope so ^^

@PCsToGo

You're a dealer - so give yourself a good discount and get both!!:D

I don't understand the problems that people have when deciding about budgets for PC components. Sell the car, loose the GF, stop drinking, smoking whatever to get the money for an upgrade!!!

He's running a 3850... I think not :P

I am running it because times are tough.
