I've got Vodacom to check the tower in the area - but they need to know which the phone connects to.

Cell broadcast or something?

What you can try is use the GPS and it will tell you what CELL ID it connects to when you check connection details. Don't know if it will work on a BB though. Otherwise try looking for an app that would give phone information. Cell broadcast might not be useful here-nowdays thats just used to advertise price cuts on calls
