Anyone know what kind of cable and connector your use to connect the satellite to the decoder? Ie. what is it called?

Also, do you have to have it going into the wall or is that simply a sort of surge protection?

To connect the satellite to the decoder? You call that a very, very long cable :D

To connect the dish/LNB to the decoder, you use RG6 with F-connectors on both ends.

Aah I see. Can you buy them ready-made?

Not as far as I know, you can buy the cables to connect say a wall point to a tv etc but not the f type, I may be wrong though.

Those connectors are super easy to put on though

You can buy ready made, but if you're pushing them thru holes its easier without the F connectors
You can ask places like Space TV to make you up a cable to whatever length you want, but as D3x! says they are easy to fit

Makro/Game etc sell short made up cables, probably not long enough for dish to decoder though

I'll go look at Makro or Game. Thanks. It's actually for the wall to decoder bit - the connector is loose and keeps falling off. I tried to fix it but it's still loose. (Yes I know how to strip etc.)

I would like a black one anyway and a ready-made one would not fall out.

So is the wall fitting necessary? I'm guessing it's a surge protector?

All the Wall Fitting is there for is cosmetic purposes - to make it look neater than just wires sticking out of the wall!

For the best solution in surge protection, you can get a device such as this which will protect any connected TV / DSTV decoder plugged into it.

You can also get a similar type of surge protector from Game / Makro / Dions, etc which has both Mains protection and sockets for TV aerial and DSTV (single or dual LNB) protection.

Then you can use the ready-made F-connector fly leads to connect your equipment to the surge protector as required.

No the cable does come out of the wall and then goes into a fitting connected to power then to the decoder. I am going to assume surge protection ad replace it too when I replace the power fittings.
