What u think is a fair session reset time???

24... i would drop an ISP if they reset any less, this whole reset issue is absurd.

If my IP needs to be changed while I am connected, it should nto require me to be disconnected. To disconnect me at any time could cause disruptions to downloads amongst other things (downloads don't always support resume). These failed downloads would then count towards the cap so in effect the person that disconnects me from the network is stealing from me (I can understand if it is a network failure or accidental, but the timeouts don't fall into these categories).

I agree with you 100%, it's something that's been on my mind as well.

After all the bollocks with IS I've used almost 1 gig of my bandwidth and it's only the third trying to download some stuff from MSDN.

everyone could have fixed ips.. if start using ipv6
i think sa only using ipv4 , mite b wrong . correct me if wrong.

once or twice a day will not kill anyone but it must be at given a time so if they say 5am then it must be 5am every day not 0400, 0430, 0530 or 0600.

24 at the least. I have no problem with static IP and would prefer it...

The whole reset issue is totally absurd. Basically its complete hack.

You shouldn't need to disconnect the user just to get accounting data. Telkom's DSLAMS actually support continuous accounting updates but they still trying to get something together and they told us it wouldn't be ready by November 1.

AFAIK ipv4 will handle the extra 100000 ADSL users in the country...
