What use is Vitality?

I read most of the Vitality threads on MyBB, but my question has not been answered satisfactorily....
If I don't fly, stay in hotels, or joined a gym, but other reasons are there to have Vitality?
To get a little off healthy foods?
To get free smoothies?
What benefits are perhaps hidden now, but might be useful in ten year's time?
I am on blue (or bronze, not sure) and do not want to spend money on the bio, dietician et al to get to gold, if I don't have a compelling reason.
How much notice do I need to give to cancel?
(To clarify.... I was forced to take life insurance and Vitality by employer, but I am resigning soon.....)

Before you even look at whether or not your would want to be on Vitality you need to be aware that it is not a product that you can have independent of other Discovery products. You say that you are resigning soon. Will your new employer be insisting that you are on Discovery medical aid? Will your new employer insist that you take life insurance through Discovery? If they have a retirement fund you will most likely have significant life cover through the fund.

Vitality can be a wonderful product if your are linked to Discovery through the medical aid. I've been with them since 2003, so I actually have free gym membership (the pre2010 version) as long as I maintain the minimum requirements. On the other hand, I also wonder what I would do should they decide to change that. It's still possible nowadays to get to gold/diamond after 3 years on gold without paying too much extra. The main benefits, at that point, come from having Discovery's credit card. You would need to check the difference in costs between Discoverycard and your current credit card.

I had to take life cover. I don't gym, fly or stay in hotels. But it seems the biggest payout comes at retirement. I forget the specific wording, but it boils down to - if i am on diamond the last ten years before retirement, the savings payout is enormous. The specific numbers i left at the office.

My biggest issue actually is, i plan to resign end of December, and then it willbe my choice to keep it or not. But i am taking an enormous cut in salary (long story, good story) and not sure i can afford r500pm, in lieu of retirement payouts one day. Decisions decisions
