What utter bull

While I am cynical about anything changing, it was a magnanimous gesture to say this:

“Though we are serving sentences for crimes similar to this one, we feel we have wronged our nation and there is no justification for this barbaric act.

“This is our way of apologising to the community and a sign that we have changed.”

They now need to follow up their words with actions.
 
Hmmm... or an attempt to get early release for good behaviour et al. Only way they can action their words is by not offending in future.
