What wireless router to buy?

Can anyone advise me on what wireless router to buy from Take2.
My old one is on its last legs, and it's time to get a new one, as I can't afford to be without the interent :)

I had the Telkom ADSL Wi-Fi Router. Not a bad router except for the wireless distance, which I'm looking to improve upon.
I'm looking for a router that would be able send a signal through about seven walls of a house over a distance of 30m or so. Looking to pay about R1300.

Someone recommended the Netgear DGN2000, but it's listed as not yet released on the site.

Well, I'm in Cape Town, so if you know of any other places that's cool as well, I suppose Kalahari, uuum and any others! :)

I've got a Belkin N+ router, but remember you need an 802.11n draft dongle/adapter to connect to an 802.11n draft router.

What do you mean by "all-in-one"? If you mean that the router should include an ADSL modem, there is an ADSL built in version of the Belkin N+.

No, 300Mbps is just the theoretical maximum, here is a link to show how the Belkin N+ compares to other top routers and as you will see is that the Belkin N+ can go longer distances whilst keeping a good speed.

If I were you I would select what I know best being Netgear.

Oh right, as you can guess I'm no expert. Where did you get your Belkin N+, looks like a good router?
 
Hi,
For what it's worth - I use both Billion & D-Link adsl routers. This mainly in summer, when I take my Laptop to our pool (about 30M away) and still get excellent signals, email & internet & listen to the C-Net music channels. Have a couple trees, shrubs and about 4 walls in addition to distance to access point. Works well, no problems yet!
 
NOT a Netgear router.

Bought a Netgear Wireless N router and took it back the following day ; terrible range and so plasticky :/ My previous 3 year old Linksys outclassed it by a mile.

Got a new Linksys and am happy now :)

What's the signal strength like on the DG834GV

I need a router that can send a signal through about seven walls of a house over a distance of 30m or so. Don't oversell the thing if it can't, as you don't want me returning it if it doesn't..
 
One option is to look at a better antenna.
Second option is to get a router/network card that allows you to boost the signal strength.
You should also get more range in the 2.4GHz band as opposed to the 5GHz band.

Yeah, I'm fairly new at this, but it's looking like I'll have to settle on a standard wireless router and then just get something to extend the range throughout the house.
