What would cause this?

One plug is the microwave and the other is the airfryer. Both connected on a multiplug to a wall outlet. Had to break the multiplug to remove the airfryer plug because the plastic around the leg had melted.

Overload?

And yes, it is a Philips.
 
Try look inside the multi plug. Damage almost looks external so perhaps a blow out inside the multiplug. Unlikely it was the appliance plugs as there are two of them. Probably the multiplug failing causing all that damage would be my guess. Could be an external surge, or just the plug itself failing. They are shipping in cheap crap from China these days that are not all that safe.
 
Seen it before with cheap chinese kak multiplugs very often
 
Also, don't run two high power appliances off a multiplug. Too easy to overload.
