We all remember the video of the shotgun firing into the ceiling, and the Facebook group that began as a result .

Since then I haven't heard a word.

that probably means they swept it beneath the carpet to be forgotten? Which would be wrong considering its police brutality is no laughing matter

I have that flv video still, just because there were cameras inside doesn't make it brutality. There was a blonde that I clearly remember being thrown to the floor but they were all drunk and .. well .. it was a raid. If they were told to hit-the-deck and they didn't - tough! I did think it was a waste of resources as they could be raiding far more evil establishments than a student joint. Swept under the rug ??? What would be the charges ??? They went in with a signed warrant, doing an operation

oh lawd another who actually supports the pigs' actions that night

I remember seeing that video... wondered what the heck it was all about.

Why were they raided in the first place?

rofl discharging a loaded weapon in a public place for one, gpe catch a wake up PLEASE :)

Uhm, they're the police (specialised unit) since when do they answer to the public? They don't. Of course they can fire a weapon in the public wtf.. do people on this forum actually think they have the same rights as the men in blue??? LOL :D

Mephisto_Helix: oh lawd another who actually supports the pigs' actions that night

You call them "pigs" and are then surprised when they keep hitting "student joints" which you support no doubt  It's funny the students in that spot probably also called them "pigs" .. lets hope next time they actually shoot one of those rude little $hits. :)

Garyvdh:Why were they raided in the first place?

Drugs, I believe.

Until it's a family member of yours huh ..... what a stupid thing to say

And you don't think calling them "pigs" is stupid ???

What's stupid is people "arguing" with the officers in the video, after being told to sit down. How fscking stupid do you have to be, to not obey a SWAT team ??? I'm amazed nobody was shot.

SWAT? Lmao... you've got to be joking. They exist to serve the public, not to harrass them. It's lucky for them that nobody was shot or they'd have been sued into the next life.

LoL :D -- Another forumite who believes he is above & has more rights than the SAPS

I don't believe any such thing. Everyone has equal rights and I fully support the police as long as they are doing what they are supposed to do. I suppose you support the cowboy antics of the VIP unit as well?

Please show a bit more respect on the forum.

anyone throwing people about unnecessarily, including women, deserves to be called a pig ..... I know better police officers and I don't call them pigs ;)

Actually It would be interesting to see what came of this event.

The officer who discharged his weapon was in the wrong, he had no reason to do so.

The fact that these officer were members of the NIU (National Intervention Unit) makes their action rather suspect as they are supposed as well trained specialist unit who deals with violent crime.

I still dont know why they were used for something as routine as a drug raid.

As for the students calling the cops names and been difficult, that is just typical student behaviour.

+1, from the horses mouth :D

@gpe

That shot was fired while they were entering, no one was arguing etc. like you claimed.

No one said they are above the law!
