pathetic is not a word i use lightly, but i seem to use it everyday with iburst. cancelled my account due to realy bad accounting practices, still get daily updates about how much bandwidth i have on it, and it increases every month. moved to pre-paid while i decide which other service provider to go with, and lo and behold, their pre-paid service offering is only active for about 30 seconds at a time. i'll probably have to log out and back in before i can post this. why, if i'm paying a premium for bandwidth just to be on pre-paid, do i not get entitled to the premium service i would expect. hell, at this point i'd be happy to have a stable connection. strike that, i'd be happy to have a connection!!!

PATHETIC!

if you're looking for a decent reliable offering, iBurst is certainly not the place to look!!!

My account has been dropping randomly for the last 2 weeks too. I was willing to tolerate a crap connection on the old service terms because at least I had uncapped if throttled internet, but the new price increases are the final straw.

I really like your signature. iWorst deserves to go bankrupt because of their boldfaced lies.

The prepaid offering uses the same infrastructure as the other iBurst Wireless offering. What is your location?

milpark jhb. i have full reception and it worked slightly more reliably over the weekend, although it did say i managed to use 595megs of bandwidth in 14 minutes.

been kicked out by the ppp server three times this morning already

Please fwd me your UTID details and I'll check. Prepaid works differently to Iburst Wireless in that when your bucket is used you are automatically disconnected and not throttled. When you login in again then you are redirected into the walled gariden.

Yes cause pre-paid customers money are somehow less valuable than contract users.

it certainly appears that way. then again, i've been billed for the last 3 months for a contract i terminated in november! so it seems they don't care about any user, prepaid or otherwise...

this has nothing to do with bandwidth not being available. i had plenty of bandwidth until i logged in and it disappeared. the server seems to give precedence to contract subscribers, since it works more consistently before 8am and after 7pm and on weekends. as someone using your prepaid service, i'm paying a premium for bandwidth which gets randomly eaten by your system, and that's when i manage to get online for anything longer than a couple of minutes!

I don't understand the question or statement. This is the method all Prepaid products from any provider works (including many ADSL products).

i don't understand your statement. are you saying that prepaid customers are treated as second rate customers? is that really what you're saying?

Month to month clients are now paying more if they want exactly the same service as they had . We have to get 64k as VAS when it always used to be free.
Contract clients get to keep the 64k ... So it looks like my R10 is worth less than the R10 from a contract client. So then Ill take my R10 somewhere else.

The day Iburst refunds me the money i wasted on their hardware thats the day i might consider stop posting and warning other people of the Ibullsh#t trap.

I have your details, will investigate and find the cause of your problem. The network has no intelligence or ability to discriminate between a contract or prepaid customer.

here we go again. things seemed more stable yesterday, but today i'm being kicked out again every five minutes!

so, after taking the modem in to alice lane yesterday, and waiting around while they tried to figure out what might be the problem, and not being told what i'm waiting for (typical ibust service), i get told that my firmware was up to date, but let's try and reinstall the firmware to see if that makes a difference. this is the firmware that crashes mac leopard, doesn't work on snow leopard, is temperamental on XP, and reportedly gave one of the engineers a blue screen of death on vista. this reliable piece of firmware was then loaded onto the modem, and when i got home, which was after hours, it seemed to work fine. however, logging in again this morning, i was kicked out at least 7 times in an hour again, twice while trying to type up an email to the iburst technician in advanced support who tried to assist by reinstalling the firmware.

my suspicions are now proved correct, having had enough of this pathetic run-around, i decided to try log in to the network using the supposed canceled user name from my month-to-month contract i had before. the one i canceled in november. the one i've been billed for for three months. the one i have written confirmation that says it was canceled in december. the one that their accounts department claims is supposed to end in april. the one my statement says was closed in january and billed for accordingly. the one i mentioned to r00igev@@R. the one i spent an hour on the phone on saturday dealing with. and lo-and-behold. i can still log in with it.

more than that, i haven't been kicked off the network. it's stable. and fast. so far.

now try and tell me that your network has no intelligence and cannot discriminate between prepaid and contract customers. BULL*****! this is proof that it can, and does!

let's hear you argue you way out of this one now?

[EDIT] so much for that theory. i forgot i was dealing with iburst. it was stable for about 15 minutes - the best connectivity i've had this week, but alas, i'm being disconnected again. i'm off to get a telkom line and afrihost right now. i couldn't be bothered to deal with this anymore. the reason i went on to prepaid was so i h=would have a connection while i waited to decide who was the better adsl offering. forget you iburst. for a technology service provider, your drivers and firmware are about 4 years out of date, and it takes a complaint on these forums for you to decide to bless us by putting updates for some operating systems up on your site once your technicians figure out how to. you outsource your help desk, and can't get back to people and resolve the most simple of issues. strange to think a couple of years ago you were voted one of the best companies to work for. i imagine it's still great to work there. clearly you don't need to do very much...
