What's a good ipod touch alternative?

Long story short, ive geon through 2 ipods. lets just say Apple After customer services are :( :( :( so i ask you this i need an apple ipod touch alternative :D any suggestions?
 
I have been looking for the same thing.
Seems we are not spoilt for choice in this country.
Best bet is looking at the Zune HD. But you won't have any local support or warranty.
 
The iTouch is sort of in a class of its own. I used to use PDAs for the same functions I use the iTouch now - but the iTouch does much more than I could ever do with a winmo PDA device. And bogstandard mp3 players don't cut it either.
 
Cowon in South Africa?? If your going that route then what about an Archos? Expansys.co.za has them. Some good ones which support FLAC and have an FM Transmitter.
 
Cowon A3, it will play more advanced H264 formats, and screen is 800 x 480 in 16.7 mil colours - so almost iPad resolution at a much smaller size.
 
Well if you're gonna be importing something like a Cowon or whatever you won't get any after-sales service either.

Well, it costed around R250 to send it there and probably another few hundred to get it back here. I was unfortunate because when they replaced my unit, instead of repair it, I had to pay import duties, as it is technically a new item coming into the country. That was another R450 down the drain :(
Generally speaking, you won't really experience these issues. Mine was a worst case scenario where everything went wrong.

Well thats not too bad then.
Guess its the luck of the draw really.

That's nonsense. You paid import tax the first time around - the original unit was returned to Cowon and they sent you a new one. You should not have paid any tax on it. You don't pay tax on replacements as you've already paid them once.

I've had my Cowon A3 for over 2 years. It has functioned perfectly. No dead pixels. Plays almost anything you can throw at it. It records analog video (NTSC) to DivX video. No need for after sales service.

OK but that's not to say nothing can go wrong with it.

They told me it's a new unit and that I need to pay tax on it :(
