Im looking at buying a second hand pc, specs:

Core2Duo E6550
Intel 'Dragontail Peak' P35 motherboard
2gb Transcend DDR2-800
Gigabyte 8800GTS 320mb
250gb SATA hdd
120gb IDE HDD
400W Gigabyte PSU
DVD-Writer
USB keyboard (the mobo doesn't have a ps/2 connector)
Carry case for tower

Give me +/- what would be the price of this pc new and what would the price be if its second hand (10 months old, but in good condition) Just need to know what would be a good offer for it... And if the asking price is to high, if I should rather buy a new pc...

Shot :D

Is that second hand?

So you would agree that R5000 would be a good offer?

Ok so would you say paying R5000 for it now would be a good price?
Its still a pretty good pc, or what would you say?

I'd say about 6-7k realistically ... depends how desperate the owner is to sell. The guys on this forum may disagree, but if that was my PC ... I wouldn't accept less than 6 ... I'd rather not sell it at 5

If I was spending 5 grand on something I'd want it to be new. But you can't get a PC with specs like that new for 5k...So it's up to you really.

If you added in a few grand you could get something just as nice, if not better, brand new.

Well I trust the seller, and the fact that the pc is in as good a condition as it can be after 10 months :) The problem is I dont have another few grand, I need to buy a new monitor for the pc aswell...

And well anything beats a 5 year old pc ;) Even if its someone elses 10 month old one...

Ok Seller wants R5500 excluding post and packaging (PC is in Gauteng Im in Western Cape)

Also I will need to buy a monitor, mouse and keyboard (USB, motherboard doesnt have PS2) Anyone give me a price on those 3 items? Preferably LCD screen..

Also just doing some calculations, I came to the conclusion that the pc could cost around R8000 (If you include the monitor, keyboard and mouse) Anyone in the Western Cape area willing to give me a quote for a pc in that range, guided by that second hand pc? (Just make it upgradable as possible for aslong as possible, Mobo with PCI-e 2.0 16x)

How big on the screen? What are you going to be doing with the PC?

If you are not going to game, you could get a good specced system new for R5500...

No Im going to game :P

Well screen depends on how much I can spend on it (Im not to bothered with screens, just would like LCD, not as bulky, as I do move the pc around) 17 inch wide LCD? Dont know what you guys would recommend...

Still need to add a 3d card, monitor and shipping to those pcs aswell...

R3500 for one of the dual core PC's + R1599 for the 19" LG + R1800 or so for a 9600GT or a bit more for an 8800GT....

Minus the monitor, that's R5300, with the monitor R6900...

Speaking of which. Postman, do you have a website/e-store whatever? Or are you just doing the occasional favour to MyBroadbanders?
