Is it possible to use whatsapp as an additional communication tool?
We currently communicate with our clients in a bulk manner via sms, email and good old fashion letters:)
I was wondering if we would be able to send messages to our client base via WhatsApp and who offers this type of service? Its it even allowed or legal?

You can broadcast messages to contacts from Whatsapp, but the downside is you have to manually select all the people to whom to send the message.

I havent seen a way of sending to all.

It also means all your contacts need to have whatsapp installed.

SMS is probably the easiest, anybody with a phone will receive the message no need to to install anything.

Our client base is about 100k strong.
The reason for the whatsapp idea is that we could send a longer "sms" at a fraction of the cost.

Whatever app you choose, with a 100k client base, how can you ensure they all install the app of choice.

For that it seems like you need to go with ubiquitous plaform - the ones you have are the best i.e. email and sms.

Post is not a viable choice in my books take for example the post office strike, and you can track delivery failures.

I hear you, it would definitely not be the exclusive method of communication just an additional vehicle.
Problem is I don't see anyone offering the service?

Probably because you have to manually select all of the people who you are sending to.

Allow me to be as blunt as possible:

If you were to spam my whatsapp inbox with corporate bullschit, the respect I have for your company would diminish to the point of that of a Nigerian scam artist.

I'd suggest keeping this idea on the backburner. It might also be against Whatsapp Ts&Cs...

Our core focus is Mobile Marketing.

We have numerous clients who have tried this route but as some stated above its extremely difficult to use this medium as you will need to do it manually.

However We have a process called Handset Interrogation
The process allows you to see what handset is associated to the cell number, dumb or smart phone.

Clients use this service so they can send the relevant message to the client, sms or mms and they then drive the client to a mobi site.

The click through rate is extremely high, the trick to a good campaign is always having the best creative\copy.

The joys with whatsapp is that I can block anybody who tries this mass marketing crap. So when I get my first message from you, you will never be able to send me another.
