What's eating my bandwidth?

Hey Guys

Once again we are soft capped at the office, except this time I decided to investigate the usage.

We have used 300 - 500MB on weekends at our office - and there is no one there. All but two pc's and the server are switched off. The data logs show plenty disconnects/re-connects and the data sent/received per session is usually less than 10mb. However this adds over 300mb per day.

We are on 512 ADSL through Interprise on the IS backbone. 7GB package.

Any idea how to find out what is eating up our bandwidth - we are firewalled and all pc's have Bitdefender anti-virus/anti-spyware loaded.

Your help would be appreciated.

Must be someone sneaking into the office over weekends to use the internet.
 
Nope, some of the usage times are at like 02:14 in the morning.

Anyway who would get out of bed to download an 8mb file and then come back an hour later and do the same?
 
We had a similar problem at our company. Ridiculous usage over the weekends even at stupid hours. We ran bwmonitor on each of our machines as well as the server. The problem was our server...we were evaluating sbs2008 and forefront was eating bandwidth. Removed it because we were running bitdefender security for exchange as well and that was sorted.
 
I know this is a year old post, but I also have a client chewing 2Gigs a day on bandwidth after installing SBS 2008.

JJRM saved my bacon with his post, as it turned out to be Forefront causing the problem. So thanks a lot JJRM.
