Calm your tits. My question was whether that was the place that charges ridiculous amounts for food you can fit onto a saucer. I did not question the quality of the food.

None of the top restaurants are really going to serve a single big plate of food. They all focus on locally sourced ingredients cooked and prepared to perfection. I guarantee you'll walk out of any of them feeling satisfied.

You found it ridiculous and laughable that someone would pay large amounts of money to eat there. But you have seen how Randhir cooks at home, right? Why do you think he wouldn't consider it a worthwhile experience to pay the highest prices for the best food you can get in this country? I certainly would, and to be honest, even if I didn't feel like I'd stuffed myself I wouldn't mind too much if the sensory pleasure of the craft was that high. Anyway, it's got nothing to do with you and you're being obnoxious.

None of the top restaurants (ok, maybe one or two), will charge you +-R900 for that amount of food, never mind how good it might be.

Oh boohoo have a tissue. LOL, assuming I eat anything other than a breakfast at Spur maybe once a month because I refuse to pay that much for that little food.

EDIT: Yes, I have seen his posts, and he seems to not only be a cook, but a photographer as well.

Expensive is a point of view though, I'm sure you'll agree. I appreciate everything that went into the dishes I experienced, whether I enjoyed that particular dish or not.

And to be honest, I see where you're coming from, not too long ago I would have agreed with you, but my tastes and preferences have changed since then. I'm sure we could find something you wouldn't mind spending a lot on that I wouldn't think was worth it :)

Either way, I think you should give it a try. Life is meant for new experiences, no matter how outlandish you may think the idea is.

Yeah I didn't imply that the food looked disgusting. It's the portions versus price. I am 100% sure I am not in the minority here. I'll go there, of I have a grand burning a hole in my pocket. :p

I spent almost R800 on a meal for 2 this last weekend and I already felt :erm: It's a loooot of money for a meal.

It's not about being in the minority, I get it. When we're used to paying a certain amount for a product, most will balk at an amount that seems ludicrous compared to everyday prices.

Oh and on the portions aspect, the first time I went we joked about visiting KFC after the restaurant. By the time we left we waddled out.

This time we had a lighter meal but we still were stuffed.

Had this exact experience before with tasting menus...by course 6/7, was neck deep, brother. I stopped drinking even.
 
Went to MooMoo's and had the Kobe Beef Burger (no bun) with bacon and cheese. Can't really say that I tasted a huge difference in the kobe beef... will have to go back and try the steak sometime (a bit expensive at R405)

We've been to MooMoo a few time. Great place and I always see the Kobe Beef option on there. Always opt for something else though.

Now I know not to even try it.

No... the burger was R82 (without sides or toppings)
but the steak (which is a separate menu item) is R405. (Didn't order that one for obvious reasons)
