Wife got together the most amazing cheese platter on Sat. Was my sons 2nd birthday party so had a kiddies cake for him and my "cake" was a huge cheese platter. Highlight was a new soft cheese from woolies that I tried for the first time called Tallegio. Love my cheese! Other cheeses where:
Mature cheddar
white cheddar
Soft dairybell Gouda
Brie
Camembert
Blue cheese
Philadelphia cheese cake
Talegio
Ementalla
Bouren kaas

And one or two I probably forgot. Still enjoying the leftovers :D

with wine?

Hoping to make some home made burgers or something nice and warm....

Else I might just end up at KFC for their R19.95 streetswise 2 (Miniloaf, Chicken breast and large gravy or coleslaw).

Some roti thing they were selling at the canteen downstairs. It tasted like schit, but I was hungry. Also a 500ml fanta grape

Homemade pizza tonight. Missus felt inspired to knead some dough. Nice chunky ham, mix of yellow bell peppers and onions sautéed, pineapple and mozzarella cheese. Kids are getting salami and Seeman's mini Vienna sausages with pineapple, etc.

Never again will I make Sushi for myself. Specifically ... California Rolls.

It's just too much of a hassle.

The rice is a pain to cook and the fish is too dicey to get ...

And everything else is not worth the R120 to just get the finished product for yourself.

Que? just get a rice cooker and thats that. Add sugared vinegar when cooling. Vis from vismonger specify sushi grade but for california rolls I cheat and us imitation crab for the kid so slice avo, crabsticks quartered, juillene carrots, cucumber deseeded peeled and sliced. Toast some sesame seeds/poppy seeds. Cover mat with plasticwrap. seaweed shiny side down, wet fingers press rice half ways down seaweed an inch over and under center add ingredients, start roll over ingedients and pull back mat tight roll and pll and wet fingers to seal seaweed. And thats it. Trick is to do all the pre-assembly (mis-en -place) before youre ready to roll. Once you have the rolls 4 or 5 dip in seeds and roll, then take a very sharp knife and cut in half, rinse knife, make halfs quarters, then wet knife again and two more cuts. So easy. easier with practice. once you got the veg and crab sticks then move to tuna or salmon otherwise most will be wasted in your initial hack. It looks too much of a hassle but if you plan a head like tues is sushi night and you do all the prep through the day, the rice stays hot in the cooker it becomes fun and those sushi take aways begin to look like money traps.

Hamburgers with ostrich patties.
It was terrible. They taste OK, but the texture of the meat was too rough with too much hard, unknown chunks.

Won't make again.

Left over mochachos. Tip: put chips in oven not microwave and they will be like fresh from the shop
