Tonight it's spiced baked beans and viennas with 1/2 loaf brown bread plus a quart of Castle to wash it down.

my wife makes that nice. if you're feeling like a rich man, get the butter beans. :)

today we had pasta, pattypans, baby marrows, mushrooms and bacon in a parmesan and blue cheese mushroom&garlic sauce. the sauce is from the ideal milk range. my sister gave it to me. a bit salty though.

been years since i had that. we used to wait for my friends dad to bring the bunny home. then we would all gather around a large washing stone, rip the packet open and chow it. this was about 30 years ago!

Spiced or curried baked beans, and viennas was the first thing I ever cooked, way back when I was a lightie. Went fantastic then with spaghetti ! Reading K Singhs subsequent post, and this quoted one reminded me of that. Also about 30 years or so since I've had this.

Chicken kiev burgers. Store-bought chicken kievs.

Because....fsck it. That's why...

i wish i knew i liked curried baked beans when i was living on my own in greytown all those years ago. back then it was often "2" minute noodles and mince. or toast.

Can you please post a recipe?

There's the easy quick way and the full blown curry route.

Easy way:

Medium pan or pot
Medium heat
Lightly brown half Chopped Onion
About teaspoon masala
Throw in beans
simmer for about 15mins stirring to prevent it holding at the bottom

if you wanna add viennas/sausage just cut them up and brown in a pan then throw into beans and simmer for a few minutes

And you just use the tomato sauce baked beans?

Very important that...and just a few curry leaves when you're braising your onion and chilli can take it to a whole new level.

Yeah. It's all about how much time you got. If I have plenty time I'll use Bay leaves, cinnamon, cumin, cloves, tumeric, chilli, curry leaves and even garam masala. But all in moderation or it will become too spicy. Then I simmer for about 30 mins and it gets really thick. Adding pureed tomatoe helps a little too.

I then add the browned sausage.

I usually do this with pasta and melted cheese. Sometimes I pan Fry some salami or mutton polony or both instead of sausage or wors.

I'm always making myself random lunches of curry because it's super tasty and easy to make, but I have never thought of using baked beans.
