What's for supper?

I just finished my PnP purchased chutney and mayonnaise chicken .... but that's not what I want to talk about.

I also bought a 500g bag of oven roast vegetables. I drenched it in olive oil and salt and pepper and added a little (a little bit more than a little) knob of butter ... and roasted it for about 30 - 40 minutes in my weak and underpowered oven.

I couldn't stop eating ... my mother would be so proud of me (not to mention the pride my bowels are feeling - I finished the whole 500g bag) ... but not of the copious amount of butter I used ...

Why? MSG is not the evil people thought it was back in the day. Unless you have a sensitivity, it's pretty harmless in the quantities we consume it in food. Especially in aromat as a seasoning.

I hardly use the stuff myself, but it's not bad...

It's one of the most accessible sources of umami flavour profiles. There are chefs who specialize in msg based high cuisine. Quite an interesting development really.

Butter is not bad for you, don't let anyone tell you that. Read Briffa's books - very interesting.

I'm having traditional kebabs with Nan-e Afghani. They looooove garlic here :)
So long as everyone else is eating it lol

Sprinkle it with balsamic vinegar as well next time. Adds a lovely flavour.

Well, seems like my first attempt at lamb stew last night was a success (as I do not have food poisoning this morning) Success! :)

Sounds yummy - but it is 36 C degrees here by me and curry is the last thing on my mind

More in the mood for a whole ice cold watermelon ;-)

Curry on a blazing hot day with beer/coke to wash it down is the bomb.. Just prepare for a nap afterward...
