I've made this recipe a couple of times with great success. It produces quite a complex flavour.

how much of the wine taste comes through in the finished dish? I just dislike wine. but if it has a big impact on the flavor then I will add it. but can the kiddo eat it as well. they always say the wine cooks away but just making sure.

You won't directly taste the wine, and it has no or at least trace amounts of alcohol content. It acts more like a stock where it provides a richness to the background. I would even say that you could substitute it with a good chicken stock if necessary.

And there it is. First time making gnocchi, turned out beautifully. Found a good sauce for the venison chops as well.

What we did.

We had dinner at The Harlequin Restaurant.

Ravioli for starter, wife had beetroot and goat cheese.

Lamb rib and panko crusted pork chops for mains.

The venison also looked good.

Honey baked Chinese chicken, egg fried rice, and a Thai coconut rice pudding.

We got donated a couple of big bags of proper korean sticky rice so I'm going to town on Asian food.

The chicken is deadly.

The gnocchi was incredible. I've only had it in frozen packet form and it's an enormous leap when you make it by hand. It isn't difficult at all, but it does take a long time to make and there are a lot of steps.
1) Peel and boil potatoes to nearly mashing point
2) Mash potatoes with a ricer or fork - don't get them completely smooth. Allow to cool.
3) Spread flour on surface. I used 2 1/2 cups to 6 potatoes, I think. Make a hole in the middle of the pile and put mash in. Make a hole in the middle of the mash and crack an egg inside. Salt and combine.
4) Knead the mixture for a few minutes until it becomes a proper dough and holds its structure. Form into a rectangle approximately 4 inches wide and 1-2 inches high.
5) Slice into long strips of 1 inch wide. Flatten each strip out to about 3/4 inch high and cut into pillow shapes of about 1x1 inch.
6) Optionally depending on how you want to cook it, use a fork to create the lines. I didn't.
7) Chuck the lot into a boiling salted pot of water. Give it 3-4 minutes to cook. Drain out.
8) In a frying pan mix butter and olive oil and get it nice and hot, then add the dumplings. Fry till browned. Add paprika, salt and thyme.
