Hi
I've been using Afrihost mobile for ~9months now and had the same issues. I'm 15min walk from Newlands Cricket ground. I'm using a Huawei E5331. For 3G the bars are only ever orange or red.
Often I'll get this when trying to Google something:
And then any http page request ends here
or here
so I reboot, which sometimes helps.
But generally it doesn't, and I just have to wait. The worst times are month end and when it rains, but when it works its just fine, and fast. How can it be this inconsistent?
My guess is there's something wrong with MTN's tower, but I don't see people talking about towers. Is it possible the tower is overloaded and MTN is just being tardy about upgrading their infrastructure to handle the capacity? What factors affect reception so badly? Because I swear there's nothing wrong with this connection when its working.
