Hi

Hope someone can help me.
Bearing in mind that I'm not planning on gaming, etc.
just basic Document editing.web surfing,dvd watching,etc.
What processor would be best value for money?

Pentium 4; Core; Pentium Dual Core; Core 2; Celeron ?

Many Thanks:cool:

well dude it all depends on your pocket

its like saying what is best bam for buck car? who knows if you dont give us an amount :)

For me a E2180 is more than enough!! :D
Only about R700

We all know the best bang for buck car is the Golf. Best bang for buck processor, the E8400. :P

Only if you have that much dosh lying around... bit over-kill though for just general pc usage.

I agree, same thing applies to the golf. Very expensive but atleast you know you have a good cpu/car that will last you a while

golf is not the best bang for buck :) unless your happy with paying excess all the time cause it gets stolen so often haha

E2160 overclocks to ~3GHz average on stock cooling with minimal over volting.
Don't know if your interested in overclocking, bu this way you spend R700 and get performance that's from a processor more than 2X the price:D

I'm not talking about the Citi Golfs, Golf 4 or 5. I did find your comment funny though. If you buy a citi golf you might as well leave the doors unlocked and the keys in the ignition when you park somewhere. It will be less painful.
The E2180 is probably the best if you're planning to overclock, otherwise go for the E4500. Performance is reasonable and the price is not too bad.

If you aren't interested in overclocking then the 4200+ X2 isn't bad. Probably better than any Celeron/E2x at stock. It's around R650.

Sounds like you already have an Intel board though, so the E2180 or Core2 4500 would be best afaik.
