What's the catch?

Bru, just ignore the unworthy and look at the helpful posts ..... no need getting all het up (thats what I do when I come across some of your ramblings ... works everytime :p)

It's a good deal for what you need it for so go for it.

I generally do the software set-up myself as well. Takes a little bit longer, but I like to configure all PCs I work on in the same way
So do I...

usually an invoicing system in Excel of something like that. Office people rarely bother with much else
In the industry I serve the staff have to be a bit more enterprising than that. I've found the machines get used to run the telnet app that they work in, plus effective use of the Office suite of apps, sometimes photography and lots of Skype and also, fax2email interfaces.
If it is an intermittent fault, I will usually pick that up myself during set-up. I only get call-backs for def. hardware failure

Cheap mobo's tend to fail after 6-9 months so these faults cannot be reasonably detected during setup and install, especially ones with crap quality parts and by that I mean especially the CPU regulator circuit caps.

I get called back to replace those machines I eventually ended up replacing all their computers, the ones the previous IT guy got for a bargain from some supplier. I built all the replacement PC's myself, did everything myself, and there were no comebacks and I used decent brand name motherboards.

am not a RESELLER! I do not work on PCs! I am not needing a high spec GAMING PC! It is for my MOM! I did not mention buying a PC with only 256MB RAM! In fact your entire post is pretty irrelevant to me!!

Sorry dude, I wasn't talking to you or about you... Soz for misunderstanding...

No probs... :)

But you do seem to have some experience so have you had issues with this particular motherboard and type of set up?

The new PCZone ad will be up in 5 minutes...
Check out that Sempron.

I put an old 6600gt in my one and it runs Spiderman 3. All low graphics of course but it's a good solid machine. It never lags, never hangs and no BSOD :D

Damn I hope the offer I am after does not disappear! But acceptable if a better one for around R2000 appears! :)

The new ad is up now. And I didn't understand what you just said LOL
Sorry mate

Well I was looking at the spec that was up for R2000+- and now you said it is changing! Would suck if after all this posting I made a decision to get it and it was no longer available!

I saved the old web page just in case to compare the new specials!

OK just refreshed the page and from what I can see not too much has changed...in fact I have not noticed anything yet. And the one I was looking at is still there!.... but I see the hard drive upgrade is now R49 and not R1! Damn!

Who do I speak to about getting the old offer? :)

No they run out of stock or the pricing changes so the offer is off the table.
The Sempron is in the last column on the bottom

yeah absolutely. thats why I bought it.
needed basic functionality. a full pc for under 2k is always a good deal ;-)

Well now that creates a whole new discussion for this thread.... which would be the better offer the AMD Sempron R1699 or the Pentium Dual core for R2199? And obviously I do not mean based purely on price but comparable performance? I have always been an Intel person myself so I know very little about the AMDs. Would the Intel be far superior here or not? And what about each one's integrated graphics and audio, is one far superior to the other?

also gives me an idea of what a fair price for my old PC is when I sell it next month :D

Honestly I don't know... I've always been an Intel fan myself but I imagine for your purposes, it wouldn't make a big difference either way. I know a lot of people who run AMDs and are very happy. And I've been more than satisfied with this one

Then maybe you should buy from Matrix. ;) I have nowhere near that rate of failure.
