What's the difference?

I'm currently using ADSL from Web Africa, but just found this:

What's the difference between that vpn internet and my normal ADSL? And how is it possible that they could sell it for that cheap?

Although I have not used the VPN-based OpenWeb product, I have read only negative things about it (not working properly, very slow, etc.)

In my opinion, a VPN-based account is not worth the cost savings given the extra configuration related hassle.

I believe it is cheap because you are using local bandwidth to connect to their (OpenWeb's) server, which in turn is connected to the Internet - so you use its international bandwidth, but only local bandwidth on your side. Local bandwidth is far, far cheaper than international bandwidth.

What would you want to use your connection for?
