I'm renting my own house as of start of this month. I'm finally done with flats, yay
I live in Nelspruit, not quite out in the bushes, but not in town either, just a few km out.
I currently use a 3G connection and data bundles for the past year. To be honest, it's fricken expensive, but it's a top up contract, the amount has to be paid each month, so it's not an extra expense in actual fact.
The house I moved into has a Telkom phone jack in one of the rooms and I see the telephone pole right outside.
My preferred ISP informed me that the process to apply for ADSL would involve signing up for a Telkom month to month phone account and then applying for DSL.
My problem is this.
Let's say I sign up for a residential phone account, what would the point be if my area does not even support ADSL?
I see that as wasted effort and a waste of my money to be honest.
Are there any other ways of finding out if my area supports ADSL. Would Telkom be able to tell me? Even if I'm not a client of theirs yet?
Concerning the DO packages. Is a standard 384 based line the cheapest on DO in comparison with other offerings?
Or would I save by only applying for 384 without DO?
I would appreciate any tips or suggestions.
