Is there a way to check what exactly is using my bandwidth when i'm not browsing or gaming, when my pc is idle? I use bitmeter 2 and find it extremely frustrating watching bandwidth being eaten when i'm not even using the pc. Yes auto updates are turned off for everything, I know all the things to check but im not bothered to list them all. Is there a way to find out whats gobbling the bandwidth? netstat doesnt really help me much, maybe an app? Thanks guys

Netlimiter 2 is an app which gives detailed usage information for every process running on you pc.

Net Limiter 2 doesn't work for windows 7, well atleast the last time i tried it didn't work. Any other suggestions?

NetLimiter 2 works on Windows 7, but you have to run the installer in compatibility mode though. I've been using NetLimiter 2 Pro the last couple of months now on Win7 without any problems.
NetLimiter 2 Monitor (which is free) should suffice, since you only want per process statistics.
I've tried NetLimiter 3 Beta. It has a few nice features, but I really hate its statistics plugin and I think in your case it would be better to use NetLimiter 2 Monitor still.

Here are a few threads where Bandwidth Monitoring tools have been discussed:

I use commodo firewall for this. Its not primarily a connection monitoring tool, but it can show you active connections & the data being transferred across them.

Note that you won't be able to see total bw used for the day. i.e. As connections get closed they disappear from that screen. Running on Win7 x64.

The other app worth a look is netbalancer. www.seriousbit.com/netbalancer It does not run on x64 systems yet.
