Whats wrong with my downloads?

For a while now something strange has been happening when I download something directly from a website. Whenever I click the download button, for some reason it doesnt give me a download status bar nor does it even appear in the downloads box? I wait and then the "save as" dialog appears, as soon as I click "save" then it saves it to my hard drive instantaneously. Its as if its downloading in the background.

I've tried numerous websites, different browsers, I've even upgraded to win7, still the same problem. Even youtube doesnt buffer as it should, it waits for the whole clip to be buffered before I can view it.

Any idea why this happens?

This happen on other PC's too?
Did you try download managers?
ISP?

I think I saw a few threads complaining about having to refresh to get sites to open. Do sites open fast? Then it won't be DNS...

I had a similar problem when using one of those You Tube downloaders, dunno if it's related?

It happens to all my pc's
Similar thing happens with a DL manager
Cybersmart, but only until the end of the month.

Websites open fast, no change there.

I dont have a youtube downloader installed, as soon as I installed win 7 I tried a download and still the same thing, so I doubt its software related.
