Whats wrong with my screen

everything was fine until i turned my back and went downstairs for 20 minutes.

when i got back, the screen looks like this (i used an empty white desktop to make the problem easier to see)

2013 mbp 15"

i have tried rebooting
reset pram
reset smc

any ideas ?

I've got almost exactly the same issue but with my iPad Air. Was disappointed to hear today that my warranty was in fact one year and not two. Looks like I'm just going to have to accept it.
