What's wrong with S.A rice?

Waaooh!

After a countless trial & error efforts...
At last, yesterday I found what I have been looking for... 'The best rice in South Africa'

You guys don't realize how much favour you did to me...
'Cause I can literally eat rice almost every single day. I just keep on alternating different veggies/beef/lentils.
Interesting, I haven't had rice in probably two years, and it wasn't my choice when I did have it.

The secret to cooking rice is to use basmati rice and to rinse it very well.

Put it in a bowl, cover with water, leave for 30 minutes, replace with clean water, leave again for another 30 minutes, rinse under a tap until it runs clear, and cook uncovered for a MAXIMUM of 10 minutes, usually less.

Et voila, perfectly cooked, loose, fluffy rice.

Holy crap. A hour and a have just to cook rice. Neah man

I just put it in the microwave with kettle water. Sorted in 20min
Not really. I cook 99% of the time rice in the microwave. You can get it "cooked" in 20min but its not great. It needs time to suck up the water. I normally put it in for 40-45min but put the microwave on 50% power.
Same principle apply for making Pap in microwave. Its just better if it gets more cooking time.

I am just to impatient for that. When i want to eat i want to eat now.

I actually have holders with cooked frozen rice in my fridge and just warm it up when i make something to eat with it. Sad but true
I also freeze cooked rice from time to time; it makes food prep easier. No shame in that.

Get a rice cooker. I rinse my rice quickly to get the bugs off and then pop it into my rice cooker (also with kettle water), after that it only takes 12 minutes until it's done.

I just use the microwave oven
I boil the kettle
Throw rice into a ceramic bowl, I never wash rice, unless it is sushi rice
Add enough water by eye
Put in microwave and onto 100% full power for 14 minutes

Rice comes out perfect, sometimes a little too much water but then I just throw it into a colander and done
Back into bowl and add a dollop of butter and melt it into the rice

Easy

This. Got a cheap 3l Chinese one that works with Google Translate over the weekend and even the cheap Spekko rice tasted really good. Should've gotten it sooner.
Tried cheap Tastic brown rice and it came out really nice as well. Using the stovetop it was really a hit or miss. Sometimes it was great and other times not with the rice cooker it's consistently good.

The big trick to rice is leaving the lid on and letting it steam once it's done cooking the water away.

Does all the "soaking" spoken about above but inversely in the pot.
