What's your go-to hardware store?

Used to be the local guy but he seems to be stocking his shelves from the Temu catalogue these days - so Builders for convenience sake.

Voted local, but I usually Google the sh|t out of something for stock & best price.

Friendly and helpful staff

Another good one is R James Hardware in Wynberg. Began in 1924

I find Builders a bit expensive. Staff not too good. At least the Kenilworth branch

Builders because it is the closest. I prefer Chamberlains - whose advisors seems to understand and know more - but closest is easiest if I know what I want.

Brights - They stock a wide variety and the staff are helpful.

BuildIT or Mica for small things. Tools online. Stupid poll that you can't select more than one option.

Smaller independent stores are usually overpriced.

Here where I live we have every store on that list except for Leroy Merlin, Chamberlains, and Brights. A lot of these franchise stores switch from one to the other. From my experience, when I go to Builders, I often find that they charge more for the same product than the others. Though for convenience, I would go to them, just for selection.

Back when I still needed material for business, it was either Cashbuild or Build It.

Builders is definitely not my first choice. They are the best for convenience though, but then again we have a massive Builders.

Go to both builders and Leroy Merlin, depending on what I want and when googling which store has it cheaper and in stock
