What's your view on the Millennium bug?

According to information online there seems to be conflicting views and statements.
Some people say due to effort and hard work the bug was mitigated.
Other people say it was not severe on a global scale and wouldn't have effected anything.

I remember when I was younger the opinions about it wasn't in alignment either.

So what is your take on it?

Most of the time it was a money making scheme.

Old company i used towork for at the time also said nothing happened and we scared them for nothing.
We kept the old system, just made a copy and then upgraded the copy. Ran their old system for them as a test and had some pretty nasty crap pop up and calculations went awry.

That shut them up real good.
It was bigger than a lot of people thought. Old mainframe systems, old developed apps that only had 2 digits for the year simply could not cate for the issue. I was involved with quite a few projects that had to be fiddled with.
