Whatsapp alternatives? Its too delayed!

Hi all,

Anyone know of any apps similar to whatsapp? I used to have a bbm but upgraded to a DHD and now chatting to my other half is terrible. Sometimes whatsapp performs fine other times its delayed. This morning she sent me a message at 8: 40 and I only got it a 12, as did I receive all my other messages late.

I have now resorted to carrying my BB in addition to my DHD just for the sake of BBM.

Anyone using anything thats good? Ping Chat? Live Profile etc?

Obviously it needs to be free, have no delay and stable.

The Gtalk integration in BB works 100% from my experience
 
Meebo is a great app. I have integrated it with GTalk and there are a whole host of other IMs that it integrates with. Otherwise Skype, Fring, Nimbuzz all work well. Depends what your other half has as well.
 
Ebuddy is a good app capable of running as a background service on Android. Most IM apps cannot do this and get auto-closed when Android frees up RAM.
Meebo too but the Android version has a crap interface.

The stock Gtalk client is also a good option.
 
WhatsApps very rarely delayed for me... I'm on Nokia so rely on it completely to chat with my BB and iPhone friends - that's pretty much all of them.
Had a couple of issues now and then, but I'm sure not much more than BBM.

Sorry for not offering an alternative, but I guess my point is that you're asking for way too much from a little piece of software :)
(oh - this is after reading that someone actually recommend MSN for better reliability... what a joke)
 
Delay??
Could be your connection. Never experienced that yet on iPhone.
 
Gtalk for the win! Works on a Blackberry and is a native app on Android devices.
 
Kik is nice too, although most of my friends are on whats app
 
Whatsapp is definitely the skype of messaging apps. Others may work better but everyone uses whatsapp.

Had very few lag time issues myself.
