No.

All previous API's where 3rd party hacks and they all got pulled off the interwebs two days before Facebook announced they acquired WhatsApp.

I happened to be relooking into the API last month. The API also used an exploit in their protocol and required constant updates to get it working. Also WhatsApp where blocking MSISDNs they suspected were using the API.

Besides for the encryption, Telegram is exactly like WhatsApp. And I don't care about the encryption, I doubt FB cares about my rugby chit chat, photo's of my shaved head or banter between guys on a group...

Its the fact that telegram is open that is nice. So you are able to write your own clients or integrate into it.

LOL. Doubt it as they are two different platforms. Mxit at least has apps and a billing platform, WhatsApp is all about sending IM's
