I am trying to verify my whatsapp number but every time I choose call me it says "we couldn't call your number. Please check your number and try again" . It is a landline number so I cannot use sms. Has anyone else experienced this?

OP used a landline as a WhatsApp number.
I have been using the landline number with whatsapp for a while now. The old phone was stolen recently so I got a new phone and downloaded whatsapp on the new phone

Yeah thats why I avoid using anything but a working cellphone number which can receive an sms. They should make it that you can link an email address as well.

Isn't there an option to change your WhatsApp number but keep all the chats?

For businesses that is still being used I guess. Or some people use VOIP numbers etc.
How do you download whatsapp on a landline phone, is that a thing?
Redid it now, omitted the zero and requested the verification code but still the same

Try using WhatsApp Business instead of regular WhatsApp to register a landline number.
I was using WhatsApp Business, After 120 days of inactivity WhatsApp deleted the account and we were able to get it back by creating a new account and verifying with a call
Has anyone had luck with this? I have my 031 number on whatsapp business since 2020. That is working fine, but clients keep asking how they can also use their number. So I am tryting to setup on another number to test it. but also not getting the call. Some say they get the call and then it cuts off before it reads out the code.

Get another sim , let whatsapp send sms on other sim, take code and insert on app on chosen phone.

No, the code works on any device. Did it twice for family overseas.
