This is a bit strange: my Whatsapp on Android defaults to a specific conversation - ie, if I open it, it will open to a conversation with my wife.

From time to time this is problematic: I mistakenly sent my wife an invitation to drink beer with me yesterday, instead of the person I intended to invite - when I should have been on my way home. She was not very impressed.

How do I stop Whatsapp from opening in the conversation with her? Ideally it should open on the list of contacts, as normal.

hahhaha
This whatsapp issue can get you into some fatal situations lol

This is too funny xD. Maybe just be honest?

At least you didn't ask your skelmpie for a quick pomp.

Ah dude, always use a different phone for your side-hoe...

Use old communication methods

Hahahaha

Is it possible that you created a shortcut to the chat with your wife and you are accessing that, instead of via the Whatsapp icon as per usual?

Any hoo, I think it defaults on the last open screen you had on whatsapp.

Question: How did you not select your mate/skelmpie from the contacts menu first? Why do you open whatsapp and just start typing?

wow been so long and no one has sugjested Telegram yet?

but I think Hoender solved your issue

The OP is basically pressing the home button when a chat is open. this takes him to his home screen - when he next clicks the whatsapp Icon the chat opens up and not the app.

don't press the home button - hit the back button :)

I hope so. Otherwise Gezza's suggestion seems likely too. If you have a chat open and you click the Home button(all Samsung Galaxies I've had anyway - 3, 4 and 5), it opens on that chat the next time. It's a habit for me to return to the Chats page before exiting, but I don't think many others have that habit.

Whats what? Oh that antiquated messaging and chat platform from 2009. Yeah sorry cant help.

They don't have Whatsapp where I am.
Where am I?

In 2016 !

I use Telegram.

:D

Did you know: The two are not mutually exclusive. In situations where people have many friends and/or family do not use Telegram, these people tend to keep both applications installed on their phones.

That seems the most likely solution. Thanks very much.

To the rest: Telegram is FOR the skelmpie.
