Hi guys,

Hope this is in the correct category.

Few questions:

I'm at home on wi-fi and make a Whatsapp voice call to someone who's let's say driving.

I use MY internet data to make the call, but what about the person receiving the call? Do they use any of THEIR data as well while chatting to me? Or am I the ONLY person who "pays" with my bandwidth?

Question #2:

For me to call someone on Whatsapp voice call, is all they need a cell phone signal? Like they don't NEED to be connected to a hotspot or whatever right?

Edit: Thank you gentlemen

You both use data.

You need a data connection. Sometimes you can have a signal but no data connection.

WhatsApp voice calling takes place over a data connection. Your data is used and the recipient's data is used. Obviously you both need a reliable data connection. The data connection will be whatever the phone has access to, be that wifi or mobile data.
