When can you use deadly force

Lets say a friend has a heart problem, and it is life threatening if he has to do something really physical (Say a Fist Fight) for self protection, due to a heart condition.

At what point is it legal/just to use deadly force, as his life is in danger due to heart implications

Are you asking if your friend can shoot someone instead of engaging in a fist-fight because a fist-fight poses a potential lethal risk to their life? Basically - can your friend kill someone to avoid a physical altercation?
