My aunt bought me an Atari set in 1978, played tennis on the sports cartridge and that was the beginning of my gaming career:)

i was about 5 or 6 and we had an atari as well, playing some battle ship game, horse racing and boxing with a few
others as well... around the early 80's the good old days ... sigh

I also remember getting my first computer ... a commodore 64 with a tape and floppy drive!

1975, Pong.

I built my first computer myself, using a Motorola processor, also mid 70s.

Are you sure about the year? Which Atari model was that? I am into 'computer history'. My self started computing in 1983 at school (I am not from SA) Do you still have the console? If is indeed that old (which I very much doubt) I might buy it from you. Do you still have the original packaging box?

We also had a pong like tv game. I cannot remember the year, but it must also be round about 1980. Later we got the atari, which was a hugh difference and then I got a zx spectrum 48, which was my first computer (which I almost exclusively used for games).

Yes BlackBox, I'm sure he still has the Atari game with original packaging from 1978 ...:p

Played bricks on an old PC with a yellow and black screen when I was really really young.
The PC still had a "Turbo" button?!

well, i was only born in 1984 so probably got my first taste of gaming around 1989 when the NES was all the rage. oh, how i love thee super mario bros!

First games were Adventure and Star Trek in 1976 on an IBM 370. The graphics were not up to modern standards.

My memories of the time are slightly hazy and convoluted. There's something there relating to Space Invaders on an Atari 2600, probably '84/'85, but my first clear memory is of this:

Early overclocking was a breeze.

First game I played was either Montezumas revenge, also monochrome screen, think it was on an XT.
First multiplayer was asteroids, also XT.

Atari started in 1972 i think, i may have had the Atari pong set as the cartridge system was in 1982, as i was in SA in 1980, and i played it one or two years before i left the UK, it was in a chest of toys i had which i had to leave behind :(

yeah Montezumas revenge monochrome was great

Tetris and Mario Bros (and others I forget now) on one of those Golden China cartridge consoles I got as a birthday gift. Around 91/92.

Vic20, about 1980 or so, you had to programme the game yourself with the sheets that came with the game! Then record it onto cassette haha :) (showing my age here)
