Hey guys

Firstly i did search the forums quite a bit, and i checked on the telkom site, but nothing about my question, so i posted in this forum.
Here's my current scenario, i was wondering if anyone had some advice for me..Got my brother is coming back from overseas on the 5th August, and he needs dsl at home.Ideally we want to get it sometime soon after he has arrived..Now i know that this isnt highly likely, after hearing and reading many horror stories about installations etc..And i should add that i plan on doing a self-install..So heres my question, if we ordered it next week, and by some miracle it was connected by the technician at the exchange in July, would we be billed for dsl line rental for July?...Is that how it works, you are billed as soon as you are connected?
Because we don't want to pay for July since it won't be in use then...
Also am i correct in saying that as soon as the Telkom technician steps on my property, i am liable to pay the R404 (or R437?) install charge?
Thanks

You'll be billed as soon as the line is installed - generally on a pro-rata basis. You dont need to get an ISP account until you need it running so that should save you that expense.

I'd take the risk and apply asap. At least if you can so the self install you'll save that r404. :)

ok that makes sense i suppose..i guess i should order it asap if thats the case..thanks for the info, im sure i'll be back here posting at some point since this is telkom i'm dealing with:mad:

And remember that Telkom charges for their services in advance so the first bill is going to be a whopper ... budget for at least R1800 ... it will be pro rata usage + the next months one.
