Hi guys, i am thinking of getting a new car in the next 2 months, can someone tell me when will be the best time to buy?? is the price usually cheaper before or after christmas?? thanks!!!

well if you buy it this year, when you sell it it will be an 08 instead od an 09 model, so less resale, but 09 model may be more expensive :)

I bought and paid for my car (Fiesta ST) in December 2006, but I only registered it in January 2007. I drove it on garage plates for a month, so when I resell it it's a 2007 model but I paid a discounted 2006 price.

Probably the best way to do it if you're buying new, but buying new is a pretty huge waste of money. I just thought it'd probably be the only new car I ever buy, so I might as well do it once ;)

You never buy new, exept if your gonna be replacing it every 2 years, have a company motor plan, ect. (cars loose up to 45% of their value in th first year.
Buy 1-2 years old, from first owner.

I have all my cars brand news... nothing wrong with that imo...
The people who make up these things never buy brand new because it loses value to fast also tend to buy American, Jap or French cars anyway... that still lose value faster than other models...

Anyone notice the Mini Coopers resale values? Unbelielable that a 2003 car that was R230k is still holding strong at 160-180k 5 years later.

Buying new, if its going to be tight on the budget is stupid.. plain and simple.

You will take the initial knock on depreciation...

JK8 you also have to take into account the depreciation on the rand over the last 5 years, so that car has still prob taken a 50% knock on value over 5 years.
