When it's good, it's good enough

+1 Dropbox is an excellent service. I've also tried a few of the alternatives and always keep coming back to Dropbox.

This article is more about how good dropbox is than applications in general.

(Besides Dropbox) I have an Ubuntu one account by virtue of being an Ubuntu user and I have a ZumoDrive account because it comes bolted on my Yahoo account. I use them all for different purposes. All these services offer cloud storage and are equally good in terms of simplicity. As long as file storage is what you are after I dont see any difference among them, leaving the issue to boil down to UI preference. I would like to bet its the features that draws the writer to Dropbox(syncing on any platform etc) yet it is the same extra features that he is flaming on other applications. IMHO bottom line is when it comes to basic cloud storage Dropbox is no better than the competition, its only when it comes to extra features (which the writer has no use of :D) that one can see the difference. For the record, Google Docs works wonders for me.
