When will Telkom discontinue DSL?

Openserve only discontinue it when the area has Openserve fibre and/or there is a lot of issues with the copper like theft or constant damage due to contractors etc.

My line is still pretty good.

Yikes, those upload speeds. So glad I'm not on DSL anymore.
ADSL is usually up to 1Mbps upload but on the VDSL modulation it should be possible to get up to 5Mbps upload, depending on distance from the exchange, I suppose?

DSL is still a thing, but in areas where there's fibre, they don't fix faults anymore.

My line had noise a year or so ago and when I logged a fault, a technician came and installed fibre.
Did he get your permission, first?

I'd imagine that a contract's termination conditions would kick in if Telkom really wanted to get out of ADSL over copper lines.

If so, what are those conditions?

I still have a Telkom ADSL. Old copper line, not fiber. I think it was off three times in eleven years. And every time they fixed it within a day. I started with 1mb speed, I now have 20mb. I also have a landline telephone number for my home. :)

I had a DSL Line at my parents house -all worked well until there were a huge cable break due to contractors working in the area. Openserve told me they are not going to repair the line, as very few people in the area still have DSL lines and the max speed was 10 mbps. We were offline for about 2 months until Openserve started to replace the copper network with fibre - we now have Openserve fibre and all working seamlessly. I believe Openserve replaces copper with fibre in a area that are not longer feasible to maintain.
