When will we be a Type III Civilization?

WHEN WILL WE BE A TYPE III CIVILIZATION?

A Type I civilization would have complete and total mastery over all the energy of its planet. A Type II civilization would be masters of all the energy produced by their home star, and a Type III civilization would own all the energy in their home galaxy.

Pfft. "Own", "mastery"..civilization is inherently anti life and hopefully will disappear completely sometime soon.

We are not close to type 1 and are unlikely to ever become one.

The problem is that the majority human configuration is too immature, irrational, and irresponsible to survive the level of technology that makes up a type 1 civilization; we would undoubtedly destroy ourselves.

At the current configuration, we can't sustain the current social level and are in the process of reversion to a tribal, shame based society.

If the species survives this process, and those iterations to follow, there could be a chance mutation that allows for a human configuration that sustains and responsibly advances technology. The best bet is using technology to modify willing humans into the required configuration.

Other options are to create synthetic humans and/or super sentient intelligences with the required properties. They could lead the way and manage us until we catch up.
