Google "Junior Java Programmer job in Pretoria" (make sure to spell Pretoria right)

Your CV (a lot of people have different opinions) should be concise and to the point, no need to include that you're fairly healthy, how many sexual partners you had and that your favorite color is blue...I usually leave out non-related work experience, I feel nobody has an interest that you worked at the Spur as the clown for 3 years (you can joke about it in the interview by saying they bored you to death and you aspired to something greater, now you can't stop and need to consume ALL knowledge...). Make it an advertisement of your skill (or skills you think you could bring to the company) with enough information to tweak interest to the point where they want to meet with you.

Sell yourself. Many employees don't really know how to do that, be confident. Remember (and say) to yourself "I'm doing them the favor of gracing my awesome intellect with my presence"

If you go into the interview with confidence (know your terms/work! and be ready to be tested!) and with the attitude that you're selling your precious time to them, then you should get the job... don't forget to show them your drive/passion to learn as well!

Thanks for the reply. From what ive gathered so far some companies dont advertise these posts. Its more word of mouth. Hence i was hoping to get a few company names then email them my cv. Googling junior java developer provides very few results.

So out of 13800 results from the Google Search you deducted it gives you very few? I just Google'd it again and found 7 websites, all job search websites, all relevant to the search criteria?

You also asked for ideas and pointers, not recommendations and phone numbers to currently open jobs. If you were in Cape Town I'd say "contact PetrolHead, they're looking for Junior .NET developers"

But I don't know you from a bar of soap, so I won't recommend you to anyone. Word-of-mouth placements only happens when you have a friend working (or knows/have friends) in a company with an open position. You're not going to get that from a forum posting and I gave you valid tips as to HOW to search & WHAT to do to score a junior development job.

If you're this lazy now then I can just imagine how lazy you are at your job... sorry, but someone had to say it...

@acidrazor. Believe me i am far from lazy. I have bn googling all day everyday. I know all the job sites of by heart now. Its just that when u google it does give plenty results but 3/4 of them are expired jobs. Some from as far as 2008. When i asked for company specifics i wasnt asking to be recomended. I was just hoping for names to which i could send my cv so that they could have it in their records for now or for future use.

Best you could do at the moment is to just apply for those expired jobs, 90% of the time it's recruitment agents and they usually run with it from there-on in. The problem is that you will be sending your CV to prospective employers that might not be looking for anyone new. I know DiData's branch 3Fifteen runs an internship program, you might try there, but their skills are very MS based and that's why I didn't even bother recommending them to you.

Vary your search a little, you basically have to whore yourself out the first year or so to gain some decent working experience to be taken more serious. If you haven't applied for internship programs or even inquired to the possibility, then you're a little more lazy than you think ;) :p
